Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute
Every Trade was engaged to convert three levels of the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute into state of the art facilities forming the Victor Chang Innovation Centre. The Victor Chang Innovation Centre was established thanks to a $25M grant from NSW Health. The works included a bespoke Preclinical Imaging Facility which houses a world first preclinical 9.4T PET MRI among other imaging equipment. The works for the Preclinical Imaging required radiation shielding and certification, medical gases, as well detailed engineering services to run the imaging equipment. The facility was also built to PC2 standards and has been certified as a PC2 facility.
The induced Pluripotent Stem Cell Facility (iPSC) is the flagship facility of the Victor Chang Innovation Centre. The scope of works included more than 150 sqm of certified PC2 facilities, stringent air pressurisation and air flows, gases, and substantial attention to detail. A new plant room was built to cater for the services required to run the iPSC facility, which houses multimillion dollar advanced robotics able to perform high throughput scientific experiments.
